Slowly easing my way into 2021. I pray that wherever you are right now that you know that whatever 2020 brought during the year and into this year doesn’t have the final say. You are loved, seen, and heard. There is nothing wrong with asking for help, no matter if you need a friend to talk to or some groceries to get you by. I think one of the positive things I have seen in 2020, is that we are coming together to help one another, so don’t be afraid to reach out.

2020 was a great start to some good intentions, some were started and finished, others were just started, some were postponed, and some have moved their way into 2021 list. But without further ado, my 2021 list of 52 intentions (one to represent each of the weeks) in no particular order:

Self-Care

  1. I made some progress last year but this is the year I want to stop biting my nails
  2. In the past, I have tried to do different fasts, but I wasn’t in a healthy mindset to be able to do so. I HATE when I restrict myself from something, because then its all I can focus on and I make myself absolute crazy, but this year I feel like I can do a  30 day fast of sweets and also fast foods in January
  3. I would love to learn to make my own bubble bath
  4. I am trying to go more eco friendly/sustainable, so I would love to adopt/ try 10 new switches this year.
  • In 2020:I have a bamboo toothbrush, natural toothpaste/mouthwash (hello), natural floss sticks, one reusable ziplock bag and many reusable shopping bags, exfoliating soap bag, natural shampoo and conditioner and body wash, and have been reusing a lot of things i would have otherwise recycled

Organizational Skills

  1. I made both my nieces scrapbooks to be given on their 1st birthday and each year I would add 2 new pages of highlights from that year, but I have fallen behind a couple years and want to get caught up
  2. I have over 5.5k photos in my phone and I need to go through and delete any old, unneeded pictures from phone
  3. I currently have 203 notes in my phone that I want to transfer into journals
  4. I want to finish cleaning out/ organizing my basement: bring in items to donate, give away more items, organize things into boxes

Life Skills

  1. I want to try 12 completely new recipes (so if anyone has any, send them please)
  2. Learn how to check my own oil in my car
  3. Learn how to break out of zip ties and duct tape (I have been watching videos/ learned how to, it just a matter of getting over a mind block)
  4. Learn to write with my left hand and use my left hand to complete tasks
  5. Learn how to braid hair: I got a mannequin head to practice on
  6. I love my hair curled and can no longer depend on my Italian guy at the mall to curl it, so I want to learn how to curl my own hair
  7. Learn how to use fire extinguisher

Give Back

  1. I made purses and bags filled with hygiene items and little items to give to homeless men and women, I would like to give out 4-5 of these this year
  2. Volunteer at 5 different organizations (even if just for a day)
  3. Make a plarn (plastic yarn) mat to give to someone who needs it: I saw this on TikTok and very excited to try. It only takes 700 bags!

Adventure

  1. Visit Walter Reed
  2. Go to football game and actually understand football better
  3. I want to try a ropes course in the actual trees
  4. Take pic in front of “Buffalo: An all America city” sign on the thruway
  5. Go to a llama/alpaca farm
  6. Try goat yoga
  7. Have a winter photoshoot
  8. I consider this adventure, but learn to land on my feet to do a front flip (on trampoline, not the ground…yet) This is where core strength goal later on comes in
  9. This is even adventurous to say…but learn how to do back flip, first back bend

Personal Growth

  1. I am still behind on all the episodes of the Connected Life Podcast, and would love to be caught up
  2. I would like to get to know different cultures and different stories, so I would like to meet with (probably over zoom) at least 10 new people or people who I don’t really know
  3. Watch all the classic Disney movies
  4. Watch all the classic Christmas movies
  5. Get to know myself by trying completely new thing and take myself out on “dates”
  6. Finish 3000 questions about me by end of January 2021
  7. Learn to tie knots, like boy scout type of knots
  8. Have a penpal, still thinking/figuring out the logistics of it
  9. Learn to make yarn blanket (those big, soft ones)
  10. Physically build something
  11. Make a TikTok video (by the end of February the latest)
  12. I want/need to become desensitized to stitches (since I am going into healthcare field and will see a lot of them most likely)

Personal growth with and in deeper relationship with God

  1. Complete 4 bible studies/devotionals
  2. I really want to improve my prayer life, so I would like to spend at least 5 uninterrupted minutes praying each day

Educational/Brain Stimulating

  1. Read at least 7 different books
  2. Learn ASL, at least a beginner level
  3. Learn Italian, at least basic conversational level
  4. Sign a song in ASL

Physical

  1. The marine booth at the Erie county fair has prizes for each gender who can do a certain number of pull ups. I don’t expect myself to beat any records but at least do 3, I would even be happy with 1, but the realistic goal is 3.
  2. The army booth has prizes depending on how many push ups each gender can do at the Eric county fair, two years back, I did 20 (they weren’t perfect form but i would say okay) I want to beat that record
  3. Since my gym is closed due to covid, I miss my kickboxing and Krav Maga classes so I have been wanting to (but putting off) buying a boxing bag
  4. My grip strength is not great, but I want to really work on strengthening my hands through using theraputty when I am watching TV, I bought gripped gloves to use when doing monkey bars and working on my pull ups
  5. In order to learn how to effectively land on my feet when doing a front flip, I need to work on core strength. Good core strength will be needed to complete pull ups and push ups

Possible 2021: Depends on how the year is going

  1. Give one or more platelet donations
  2. Volunteer at 5 different organizations, even if it is just for a day
